ROCHER DE ROQUEBRUNE

The Roquebrune rock, a classified site of national interest, is located in the municipalities of Roquebrune-sur-Argens and Le Muy. It stands between the Maures and Esterel massifs and is bordered by the Argens river at its feet. Its highest point, at an altitude of 372m, offers a 360° view of the Argens valley, Fréjus, the Esterel and in the distance the Alps.
HIKINGS
Several hikes, accompanied or not, are available from the village of Roquebrune-sur-Argens.
The GR51 passes near the rock, follow the red and white markings. Make sure you contribute to the protection of the massif and respect for private property by staying on the marked trails.
THE THREE CROSSES
The presence of three crosses at the top of the rock since their origin, according to local legend, dates back to the death of Christ. It seems to have been attested since time immemorial for each of these crosses, the sculptor has chosen to pay tribute to three major artists in the history of art.
It was inspired by the famous “crucifixions” painted in the 14th, 15th and 16th centuries, masterpieces by Giotto, Grunewald and Greco.
